First Responders – Who they gonna call?
Many people at UF drive throughout the state year-around, even more drive during the summer months. Besides just leisurely summer travel, hurricane season is upon us, creating another reason travel may be necessary. When you travel, who would first responders call if you were involved in an accident? This information could save crucial time if ever it becomes necessary to contact family members, or other loved ones. It’s your responsibility to let responders know who your emergency contacts are.
If you have a Florida Driver’s License, it’s easy to identify who to contact using the Emergency Contact Information service provided by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. “Registering your emergency contact information is particularly important during hurricane season, but it’s a helpful tool for law enforcement year-round,” said Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol. “We deal with crashes everyday and having a person’s emergency contact information helps law enforcement to quickly notify families and loved ones when someone is in a traffic crash.”
