About Emergency Management

As a department within the UF Division of Public Safety, the Department of Emergency Management (UFDEM) is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive, all-hazards approach to preparedness through prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery – striving to safeguard University lives and property. This framework allows the University to collectively address major incidents and emergencies.

Florida Board of Governors Regulation 3.001 requires the development and maintenance of an emergency management program and Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan for the University.
